New milestones in the development of scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and Zimbabwe
On July 30, 2020, The working group on cooperation in the mineral sector of the intergovernmental Russian-Ugandan Commission on economic, scientific and technological cooperation, together with the Department of international cooperation of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation, organized a visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the Russian Federation, Mr. Mike Nicholas Sango, to the Tikhonov Moscow Institute of electronics and mathematics, Higher school of Economics Research University.
During the visit, the Ambassador was shown the projects of MIEM HSE in the field of using virtual and augmented reality technologies with the participation of 3D visualization and computer graphics SPECIALISTS, as well as the possibility of obtaining 3D graphics for the development of innovative solutions in the field of additive technologies, computer vision systems, motion capture systems, holographic systems, multi-user interaction systems, stereoscopic and virtual content playback systems, as well as educational software using 3D technologies.
Alexander Abrameshin, Deputy Director of MIEM, and Igor Prostakov, Vice-rector of the HSE, informed the Ambassador about the opportunities for cooperation in the field of scientific and educational programs and discussed the idea of developing the national space program and the space industry of the Republic of Zimbabwe. Mr. M. Sango expressed regret about the lack of a geological database in the country and expressed great interest in the possibility of searching and exploration of mineral deposits, including water, taking into account the interpretation of satellite images, based on available detection technologies.
The parties agreed to work out the issue of concluding a cooperation agreement between the University of Zimbabwe and the HSE.
