Visit to Lukyanenko National Grain Center and Kalinenko National Grain Crops Research Institute
In favor of coordination of scientific and research activities and cooperation in crops within the frames of the Scientific and Educational Initiative for Uganda and East African Countries the Head of the Working Group Andrey Rashin on June 13 and 14 visited Lukyanenko National Grain Center and Kalinenko National Grain Crops Research Institute in Krasnodar and Zernograd cities of the Southern Region of Russia and was hosted by the heads of these insitutions Prof. Alexander Romanenko and Prof. Andrey Alabushev.
Mr. Rasin informed the scientists of the results of the latest visit to Uganda concerning scientific cooperation in agriculture, handed over original copies of signed cooperation agreements concluded between these institutions and NACRRI of NARO, delivered samples of Ugandan seed grains for testing on Russian soils in line with the agreements and the Initiative.
Heads of the scientific institutions confirmed their commitment to realization of the Scientific and Educational Initiative and reaffirmed their support for the Comprehensive approach in scientific and industrial cooperation with public and private counterparts in Russia and Uganda. They also appointed officials in charge of Uganda-related projects in order to facilitate liaison and communication process.
The Head of the Working Group managed to observe the testing plots where Ugandan seed crops are being tested.
Heads of the scientific institutions also drew attention of Andrey Rashin to the issues of financial support of joint Russian-Ugandan projects as well as to the necessity and importance of regular-basis data exchange between the scientists of two countries.
